okay so this stuff was mostly from me mulling over it last night... few disclaimers before i get into my thoughts
first off this theory jumps off of adobe-outdesign's BATIM theories, specifically the ones about Joey. the ones that are important here are 1) Joey was/is disabled, likely had polio, had a twisted/deformed right leg and used a wheelchair (and required an in-house infirmary and elevators), 2) the IRL toons are created from members of the studio and 3) Joey is IRL!Bendy, expressed by the flashbacks and IRL!Bendy's twisted leg (reminiscent of polio) and limping/strange gait.
and second, i'm disabled and while i don't use a wheelchair, i use a cane and so this theory mostly stems from my own insight of being a disabled person. this is important because of the possible motive i'll detail in a moment.
last thing, this is just a theory and i dont state it as fact! it's what i personally hope/think is the lore but i don't mean to say it could only be this. i just wanted to offer a perspective i don't think anyone else has. okay? okay!

alright so, for this theory let's just assume Joey IS disabled in the manner i describe. sometimes polio causes paralysis from the waist down, but not always. i'm inclined to believe that Joey was not paralyzed, or if he was, it was minimal.
why? he would of had to been able to stand and somewhat move to get to the ink machine. the wheelchair seen in the flashback is left in the infirmary (actual location is debatable i suppose, but lets go with infirmary), and the infirmary is on a separate floor to the ink machine. the floor it's on, however, has an elevator that's pretty prominently featured at the end of chapter 2. the wheelchair is undoubtedly related, as the flashback Henry has shows the ink machine, the wheelchair, and IRL!Bendy in that order.
so for Joey to make it from one floor to another without a wheelchair, he would have to be able to use his legs somewhat, though likely with great pain and difficulty. polio, when it doesnt cause paralysis, it can cause muscle weakness, fatigue, and most importantly, outright pain. joint degradation and conditions like scoliosis are common with what's known as "post-polio syndrome". i couldn't give a reason why Joey would walk to the Ink Machine, but if he does, it implies what i just explained.
now, paralysis is one thing, and agonizing pain is another. with paralysis, you don't feel anything, not even nerve pain or sensations. but with something like post-polio syndrome, you could be in virtual agony most all of the time. even if you were to use a wheelchair, it would still hurt, and there would be occasions a wheelchair isn't suitable (such as at home).
here's where i get into the motive. so if Joey is IRL!Bendy, there's not really any motives previously thought of other than generally "he's evil" and/or "he's off his rocker". whether thats true or not is another matter but i can't personally see this to be true. atleast, not intentionally. the employees talk of Joey as if he was no problem before the Ink Machine things. it doesn't seem like he had a general disposition towards satanic rituals, considering Henry's reactions, and such. Joey is also expressed to be rather nice to Susie, so he was likely nice to his other employees, as much as a manager could be.
so what if his motive...... is he wanted to be freed from his body?
speaking from experience, it's a very common phenomenon for disabled people to wish for better bodies, to be jealous towards other people's healthy bodies, and even to fantasize about the body we don't have or once had. as confident as you are, it's always something in the back of your mind. especially in the time BATIM is set in, accessibility wasn't nearly as important as it is these days. so even ignoring the pain, it'd probably be a struggle for Joey to get by with most things. if it affected his hands, that'd be a major threat to his career. all those kind of things, which would make a better body, an... ink body, extremely appealing.
Sammy in a way sort of hints at this. he wants to be freed from his ink body, however, he still wants to be freed and clearly assumes that Bendy can do that for him. why couldn't 'Bendy' do the reverse for Joey? Joey and Sammy would be parallels in this sense, but going in the opposite directions - Joey hates his human body and wants to be freed into an ink body, while Sammy hates his ink body and wants to be freed into a human body.
who knows why Joey would of stumbled across black magic, but if he did, he could of seen it as an opportunity to alleviate all this. he could of made a deal with the occult in return for a new body, and that could of led him astray on the path he went down, becoming more and more desperate to fulfill his end of the bargain. his end result wouldn't of been to bring Bendy back to life...... but for Bendy to bring Joey back to 'life'.

this could be a SUPER huge reach, but i wanted to expand on my favourite theory for Joey with my own experiences. i would probably take an ink body if it was offered to me, and i'm not as bad as Joey is implied to be!!
i hope this makes sense, i'm not the best at putting thoughts together or long theory posts. since this is a lot of speculation i dont have a huge amount of evidence, but there's no real evidence for what Joey's motive IS, so i thought it was okay to go a little wild
let me know what you think, if you'd like!
